Mentorship Program
Introducing the AKDC Mentorship Program!
A program where a resident or a fellow training in Canada will be mentoring medical students, recent graduates and or current residents in terms of their future career planning!
It will help prospective applicants to postgraduate medical training in Canada with their application and understanding of what will boost their chances of being accepted into their desired program!
It will be a year-long program, with minimal time commitment. Yet, we believe it will provide an invaluable help to our future Kuwaiti physicians coming to Canada!
Mentors
Who can be a mentor? Any current or previous resident or fellow who trained in Canada.
What will the program look like? Once the registration process is complete, we are going to match mentees to mentors who we believe will guide and help the mentee with future career planning. We will link both the mentor and mentee by email with a brief introduction about both of them. We would expect that throughout the year the mentor and mentee will connect at least once and that is totally up to their discretion (They can meet in person, virtually or by writing; emails or WhatsApp). The main idea for the mentorship program is to connect people and provide the prospective applicants with information about training in Canada and to answer their questions.
Will my name and contact information be shared on the AKDC platforms? We will have a dedicated page in our website with our mentors names, specialties, level of training and a brief summary on why did the mentor join the program. You can opt in to include your personal picture and contact information onto your mentor page.
Can I choose how many mentees I am going to have? Yes.
What is the time commitment as a mentor? We would expect it to be minimal (However, it will totally depend on how invested the mentor is and how many mentees they will take onboard).
Can I withdraw from the program after registration? Yes. You just need to connect with us by email.
